The MVSA select program is known as STORM.  Players on these teams routinely make varsity squads as freshman in high school and many go on to play at the college level.  One of the main reasons Storm teams and players are some of the best is the outstanding coaching they receive.  Our coaches have many years of playing and coaching experience.

The Storm tournament season begins in April or May, depending on the team's age, and ends in July.   Storm teams play in eight to ten highly competitive softball tournaments that require they win or place to earn a berth to a national tournament.  Storm teams routinely qualify for national tournaments, which are week-long tournaments held in late July or early August.

Wigmore to attend Limestone College. Laufer to attend Franklin and Marshall.

MVSA Storm 18U Team Jacobs is pleased to announce that Taylor Wigmore, a senior at Good Counsel High School, has signed to play for Division II Limestone College in Gaffney, South Carolina in 2010. The Lady Saints were 2009 Conference Carolina's Champion and have been picked to be a top finisher again this year. Head softball coach Jimmy Martin is thrilled to have Taylor join the pitching staff. Taylor, in her second year with Team Jacobs, plans to major in elementary education.

MVSA Storm 18U Team Jacobs is also pleased to announce that Rachel Laufer, a senior at Wooten High School, has been accepted to Division III Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, PA. and will play softball for The Diplomats. Head softball coach Mike Cooperstein is very pleased to have Rachel join the team where she will play in the outfield. Rachel, also in her second year with Team Jacobs, plans to major in Chemistry.

We wish both players the very best as they look forward to very promising college careers.

"Love the game.
Love the game for the pure joy of accomplishment.
Love the game for everything it can teach you about yourself.
Love the game for the feeling of belonging to a group endeavoring to do its best.
Love the game for being involved in a team whose members can't wait to see you do your best.
Love the game for the challenge of working harder than you ever have at something and then harder than that.
Love the game because it takes all team members to give it life.
Love the game because at its best, the game tradition will include your contributions.
Love the game because you belong to a long line of fine athletes who have loved it. It is now your legacy.
Love the game so much that you will pass on your love of the game to another athlete who has seen your dedication, your work, your challenges, your triumphs . . .
and then that athlete will, because of you, love the game."
